hidden lines in quad shapes

Hi,

When you make the fractal patterns with the quad shapes, are the quad shapes flat surfaces or do they in reality have a hidden line which essentially splits them into polygons?

I'm looking for a software to make plywood climbing wall surfaces which need to be comprised of flat quad shapes. They need to be flat for manufacturing. Each time there is a spit quad to triangles it makes manufacturing difficult. Previously I have used Sketch up but every time you move a vertices all the connecting shapes split to polygons. The images below have flat surface, no hidden lines, but took ages in sketch up. If the mesh modelling in blender does retain flat polygons that would be great.

Cheers,
