Hello, sorry to dig up an old topic. I've been learning over the past week about the fundamentals through your well paced course. I've done my sketch and have tried to apply values to it, but alas, it looks very terrible. I've uploaded 2 photos, 1 of the painting with the sketch, and 1 without. I've used reference images, and tried to incorporate what I've learned, but I'm just not getting it. Please don't laugh, but I've spent 4 hrs on this :) http://imgur.com/a/PGfRH

    Hi Aaron, I can see what you mean with your example. I think the problem is with the consistency. The top blocks feel a bit better because of the different values indicating the different sides of the rocks. The bottom half is one solid color so the value becomes lost. Try to add some of that value to the bottom half as you did the top!
