Hey Kent, everything works well in this tutorial except applying the cavity map. My map looks just like yours (I think), and when the mode is mix it looks fine. When I switch to overlay however, it just brightens the whole rock, leaves some areas with some dark grey and is in general not what I expect an overlay layer to do. The multiply looks more accurate. Any thoughts?

If your cavity map is closer to white, then overlay will blow things out. To use overlay best, the general value of the cavity map needs to be closer to 50% grey. If it's closer to white, I recommend taking the cavity map into an image editor like photoshop or gimp and bringing the levels down to a 50% grey.
