I enjoy watching your vids. Question 1: Most vids on Youtube show you unchecking deform for the iK bones. you leave them checked in the video. Does it really matter? Question 2: At what point do you APPLY each of the modifiers and do you do it from Top to Bottom or Bottom to Top?
  • Kent Trammell replied

A1: I’m not sure why they would uncheck “deform” for IK bones, unless they didn’t want IK functionality in the rig…I’m all about me some IK though

A2: For rigs you don’t want to apply modifiers except maybe to bake out you final animation for rendering. But you want to apply modifiers [visually] bottom to top. You'll get a warning if you apply in the wrong direction.

Love your video and it solves a number of problems....

But could you do a vid(s) on adding and rigging at least two layers of clothing separate from the original mesh? I did on with a cloth Robe using the pinning method described in the manual and finally got that to work, but I need to add a belt/sword on it and so far no go on rigging the whole thing to one rig....currently using 2.78c

    Thanks
