I keep trying to get it right. I put the root where I think it is best. The problem is the upper half of the character is going through the bottom half of the character. Then I try cutting a new vertex and that is where the geometry of the character goes everywhere. Wondering if you could help with that. I do everything you say to do, but it never seems to be right. I tried continuing the tutorial even with that mistake, but that only made it worse towards the middle. Please help!!!

    The Skin modifier is quite finicky, unfortunately. I was afraid it would give people trouble - tis why I included a pre-built melvin_skinMod.blend for download in the Course Files section: https://cgcookie.com/exercise/sculpting-melvin/#files
