I'm using 2.77a and I can't seem to paint on my new texture it's around 12:30 in the video. I can get the body UV on the new UV image FTHR_body_DENSITY but when I paint on the UV it doesn't show up on the model. I'm using Blender Render and I am in texture paint mode and the display mode is also set to texture. Any suggestions?

Since this version of Blender (2.66) the developers have changed how textures are painted and displayed in the viewport. It uses Texture Paint "Slots" which you can see demo'd in this lesson (starting around 3:30): https://cgcookie.com/lesson/painting-base-colors/
