Question regarding metal stencil

Hello, it was said in the video that the stencil being used in 3:42 is not free. I was just wondering is there a way we can create a brush like this manually by ourselves? I understand so far from this course that we can create brushes from PNGs like the Melvin Stamp brush, and also from procedural textures. But if it's a completely custom brush, like the one in the video, is it possible?

Yes, you can make them in any application. Lots of people use Photoshop o any of the other free alternatives. With places like Superhive or Texture Heaven or software like Substance Painter, I feel like it's been a while since I've seen someone make their own brush, today people just buy a pack or download them from somewhere. But yeah, in short you can create your own. I remember Kent did it in the Piero course long ago. I think Paul does it in his Grease Pencil courses here on CG Cookie.

Yes, you can. it's just a matter of creating an image, adding it to a brush, and adjusting the brush settings. As of 4.3, you can even add it to your system brush assets. I'm not sure if it's 4.5 or 5.0, but in one of those it was changed so that you can right click on the brush name and mark it as an asset so that you can share the just like any other asset. Note: Just copy the blend file to an asset library folder. These folders can be defined in preferences->File Paths->Asset Library panel.
