add-on Blender 5.0.1

posted to: User Preferences

Hi,

Is the add-on supplied with the course files also working in Blender 5.0.1? When I try to install it, it says it installs it in the default add-on folder (it does not give an error nor warning in the info screen), but when I try to see if it is installed by searching for bonewidget in add-ons, it does not show.

Cheers,

Michiel

    Hi Michiel,

The Search function in Addons is not very advanced, Try just bone, or bone widget.

The Addon is also in the Extensions, so you can Install it from there as well:

The message saying it installs in the default add-on folder, just means it is installed as a legacy add-on, and not as an extension. The file download hasn't been updated to an extension type, that's all.
As Martin says, you'll need to be more specific with the search, like adding a space between words, or use a single word and scroll through the list shown.

    Hi Adrian & Martin,

Thanks for your reply. When I do a search for "bon" it now finds it and says it is installed. I do not know why I did not see it previously. I did restart Blender, so perhaps that was the solution, but I can not remember I had to restart Blender after installation an add-on previously.

Thanks for your kind assistance! <3

Restarting after installation is recommended. If you install an add-on then Blender crashes before you save or close and reopen Blender, it will disable the add-on.

Just like updating your computer, sometimes a restart is required, same goes for Blender.

    Hi Michiel,

I recommend using the extension version rather than the the older version that is provided.
It has some updates/bug fixes but you still operate it in exactly the same way.
