Hello, I saw there is a new Retopflow 4 course by Jonathan Lampel and I was wondering if there will be a new Retopology course coming out?
I’m also wondering if there will be an updated facial rigging course to go alongside the rigging playbook, eyes and Shape courses - It’ll be awhile before I get to them I think, lol! I’m still going through CORE.
I’ve been busy with school yet again!
Hi Sam! We don't have a new retopo course planned due to the general workflow remaining unchanged. I assume you mean a pure Blender retopo course. Can you explain what you're looking to learn about retopo that isn't covered in our existing courses?
Wayne is working on a facial rigging course! It's the next course in his rigging series. The face is hard so it will take some time to R&D and record.
Hi Kent! Yay! A facial rigging course! I’m so excited!
yeah, as for the retopology question…. I have no idea. lol. I love your digital sculpting course but I don’t really know where to start when it comes to retopology. Like I feel like if I continue sculpting, retopology is something I kind of have to learn. Like I’m not sure if it’s too complicated or not. I know about ReptoFlow 3 and 4 that makes the process easier but I’m not sure how much knowledge I need to get started.
Indeed, retopology is an important supplementary skill to sculpting - you're on the right track about that. But Retopology is NOT difficult. A lot of folks compare it to UVs - monotonous and time consuming but not difficult. It's only a few key principles that never change.
I'd also say most people complain about retopology but I quite like it. It's one of those tasks that I can throw on some music or a podcast and get in the zone. Doesn't require a lot of thinking and time just flies.
I recommend this course for learning retopo basics (again the process has been the same for a decade+): https://cgcookie.com/courses/introduction-to-retopology
Oh! That answers my question! Thank you, Thank you! It’s now on my list!
