Start over, or move on?

Everything was going great, until it wasn't. Now I'm left with the decision to start over from scratch, or move on to another video. I need to go into preferences and see if I can increase the number of cmd z, or go backs. Undo edit, whatever darnit. Since there was so much new to me in this tutorial, I'll start over so I can really get it down. uggh!

    Hi Paul PPaulywoode ,

Yes, start over is definitely the best choice.

Make sure though, that you do the Blender Basics Course first, if you haven't already (or watch it again):

And the Undo steps are here:

I second and third that. Starting over is always a good idea. It's better to go back than to move on feeling lost and everyone has to watch tutorials and courses two and three times before they get the hang of it. So don't feel like you're the only one who has to start over from time to time.

you can adjust the undos in preferences, but there's also the memory to consider... If it can't keep the undo in memory it'll probably get lost.

Also, obvious but worth saying. Saving a new file to specific spots in relation to the video helps. This way you can go back and redo from a point where you know things are ok instead of not knowing where it went wrong and having to start from the very beginning.

Yes, that is great advice that thehomme offers!

I always do this and Blender has this great feature to Save Incremental Versions (CTRL+ALT+S, after you have Saved a first Version).

Wow, great feedback on several points. I woke up the next morning and just ended up spending 15 minutes fixing some mistakes I made and then it was smooth sailing again. Sometimes all I need is some sleep to see things fresh. It came out nicely and now I want to do a Star Trek tricorder.

    Modeling-wise that looks great, Paul!

The film grain is a bit overdone, in my opinion; could be more subtle. And the white on the image on the cartridge is blinding me. Otherwise a really good result!

I like how the D-pad looks, almost like wear and tear but also like a cool design. Really cool result.
