New Blur setting for HDRI

posted to: Texture Setup

I'm finally following the course along with practice (though on my own set up, if it counts)... and as I got here I notice that not only we get more than just "unwrap" as an option, but we have a blur setting for the HDRI.

This might be old news, so pardon me if it is... but that's kind of cool! You can see more than gray, but not necessarily "brown vintage rusty garage v03" . Lol.

I couldn't see it as an option for render though. Am I missing something?
Following the course with 4.5.3 (I know, I know... I can't use Betas on my work machine though, so I tend to stick to the latest stable release).

Has anyone played with it? Can we take advantage of that for rendering?

I assume you're talking about the viewport shading under material preview?

The blur has been there a long time, but you're right, it's not under render preview. There you only have the option to adjust the opacity.

If you want a blurred HDRI you'll have to add it to the world shader and there you can add a white noise texture to the vector. With the factor you can then adjust the blur amount.

Ha! Sorry for not making it clear. Duh, I should have uploaded I screenshot. But yes, that's it!
Sweet, thanks for that! I never thought about using it like that. I have blurred many HDRIs on photoshop, but now we now... just stick within Blender.

    Thanks!
