I kinda forgot to leave a review here after finishing the course so it's a little late, but I hope it's alright nonetheless. I started off with Mesh Modeling, then continued to Lighting before moving on to Sculpting, since I plan to dive into sculpting after learning the other basics like texturing and shading.
This course was absolutely great! Kaized did an excellent job introducing all the important and key elements of lighting. I’d already watched a few of his videos on YouTube, so I was really happy to see him teaching one of the courses here as well! Not only were all the fundamentals covered (many of which reminded me of the principles of photography) but the course also tied them directly to the Cycles and Eevee Next render engines. Learning about what each engine can and can’t do (especially Eevee), as well as the possible workarounds, made for fantastic learning material.
The only thing I wish had been added is a bit more focus on analyzing and recreating lighting in existing scenes. The final exercise was great practice for lighting a scene from scratch, and I definitely feel more confident in my understanding than before. However, I still find myself struggling a bit when it comes to studying a well-lit scene and figuring out how to replicate it. Including a few examples or exercises on that would make the course even stronger.
That small point aside, the course was excellent overall: engaging, informative, and well-structured! It covers everything a person needs to know to learn lighting in Blender (and honestly, lighting in general).
There's more content on lighting if you want to check it out, great courses and sessions all of them:
