My model looks like clay regardless of SSS settings

posted to: Skin Material II

Hi!
I've been following the course up to setting up the material with utility textures.
From what I've noticed in the renders I'm doing, the face on the portrait looks like clay or as if it had make-up on (fluid or powder). I tried tweaking SSS intensity and scale but it doesn't seem to help much.
What have I done wrong? Is the pore detail too extreme in the geometry? Are the render settings off?
The powdery coating effect was there already with the skincolor texture plugged in, even before utility maps.

Edit: Google Drive preview compresses the images to oblivion, they have to be opened from disk from what I've noticed.

    Solution

    Hi Pawel SStoigniew ,

You are using a newer Blender Version, that has a different (improved) Principled BSDF.

Your SSS Weight should be 1.0 (it's like with the Metallic slider it is typically either  0 or 1). You can change the Scale Value to adjust for the size of your model (how far the light goes in and scatters).
