Blender VR Scene inspection and Truck progress

Question Modeling

Recently I have been looking at VR Scene Inspection to inspect a 3D model within Blender. It is an awesome experience looking at a model in VR!

Just out of curiosity, anyone having tips and tricks to make the most out of a VR headset using Blender and do you use VR in your workflow?

Still looking super cool. Martin has a VR headset and fiddles with it from time to time. Maybe have has a thing or two to say about it.

    Hi Gerard,

I haven't tried VR inspection yet; it used to be very complicated to set up on Linux (I think you had to use Monado, but that alss wasn't recommended).

I will have to see if I can get it working now...it should go through SteamVR somehow...I should probably use the Steam version of Blender then🤔🤔🤔 the instructions are a bit unclear.

    Hi Martin,

I am on windows and using the normal LTS Blender version from the Blender site. No need for the Steam version.

Using the Meta Quest 3 I Additionally installed VirtualDesktop which enables me to stream the scene via the “VR Scene Inspection” to the headset. From what I understand is that VirtualDesktop uses OpenXR under the hood and Blenders “VR Scene Inspection” is OpenXR -based.

On Linux I guess it’s going to be a completely different setup. Not sure if it’s even possible.

Other than inspecting the scene, I see no other use cases. Pretty awesome though.
