Cycles

my pencil textures look very different in rendered viewport shading mode when using cycles. kind of muddy and clay like - not similar to the super sharp definition I see in the example. I notice the textures do look good in eevee but the lighting quality is not the same. does anyone know what could be causing this?

    Hi Samantha SSamVarela ,

Hard to tell without any screenshots, but what I can imagine, is that it might have something to do with the Denoising (that is on by default, I think).

Sounds like denoising to me as well. Or it could also just be how different the two render engines are. They wont give you exactly the same result. But yes, screenshots would be super helpful.

I have added some screen shots of eevee vs cycles, it doesnt appear to be the denoise.

Sometimes being in orthographic view messes things up. How does it look in perspective view? Also how about a proper render with Cycles, not just the viewport.

  • Martin Bergwerf replied

Also, that is in 4.1. EEVEE didn't have real Displacement then, so EEVEE only shows Bump, where Cycles actually Displaces the Texture.

thank you both. I may restart this lesson to see if there was a step missed.
