Hi! Sascha
I have watched your course. And I agree with all the reviews of the course so far. Congrats to a great course. I haven't followed along yet cuz I'm following along Jay's IAV course but after that I will and also hopefully submit the exercise. So, I'm wondering if possibly you could add a bonus lesson or two were you make the major materials like the White-washed Oak Material exportable? I know CGCookie has courses about this but it would be nice to see how you do it. Thank you
Hi Tom
tfsuper3d ,
Thanks for watching the course, super happy you liked it.
Now when you say "exportable" - do you mean to another software or just save the material so you can use it again in another Blender scene?
I don't really have a workflow for exporting materials to another software, just because I don't use any other software for rendering. Long time ago I was planning to dive into Unreal, but I can't find the time for it with its steep learning curve. Maybe one day 🤔
As for using materials for other scenes, what I usually do is append it to a simple scene with a shader totem (any simple object will do actually) and then save it as an asset to the asset browser. That way I can drag and drop it into any scene and freely adjust the material to what I need. If that's what you're interested in, I'll be happy to look into making a video on that and either tack it on as a bonus or put it up on my YT channel. Gonna have to talk to the Cookie Overlords about that. 😉
Loosing the ability to adjust parameters is also why I never bake out my materials.
Let me know if that's what you're interested in, or if you meant something else.
Hi,
it was to use them outside Blender. Baking them in Blender only, or in combination with InstaMat Studio (which I will, some day). I understand that this is not something you do in your company. So it's okay. I took a chance :)
Thank you for your feedback and support Sascha. I wish you all the success in life
