Hi again, Sorry for being the problem child. I did the shelf peg boolean, first with ND [which replaced the default hotkey], but did not get a modifier window to adjust the bool type--it was applied instantly. Then I undid it and did it again from the Bool Tools menu, and got the same result--applied instantly, no modifier window shown. I also can't get the "Shelf.Peg" object out of the Hanger object and into the Hanger collection, where it was before the boolean. Is it parented to Hanger now, and how can I reverse that? I don't know why this is not working as shown in the video. Here is the file, if you can please take a look.

Thank you again!
Hi Shale CCookiePuss,
not a problem, it's part of the learning process.
I don't know how the ND addon handles the boolean operation, so I don't have an answer to that.
The bool tool menu however has two options:
1. Auto Boolean - this performs the operation and applies the modifier right away.
My guess is that's what you used?
2. Brush Boolean - this one adds the modifier to your object as expected and leaves your cutter object intact.
This is the one you want to use.
No, I used the brush boolean, because I know what auto boolean does.
And yet, no modifier window appeared, just as when I used ND earlier [not realizing it had switched the hotkey].
So I don't know why it's not allowing me to set bool parameters, and I don't know why I can move Shelf.Peg into the Scene Collection, but not back into the Hanger Collection where it was originally [at the same tree level as the cabinet].
That is weird. Maybe the addon is interfering with it still?
I just tried it on your file and did a quick screen grab. Using the brush boolean it creates the modifier to change the settings and leaves the cutter object where it is.
Bool tool does create its own collection too.
Have a look here: Screen grab
OK, thanks Sascha; I will turn off ND, reboot Blender, and try again...
OK it works now! I think it maybe worked before, but my eyes were expecting it to appear over or under the Bevel modifier window, and I don't think I noticed that the window extended below the bottom of the screen, as your screen grab shows. I'm used to the Bevel window being much smaller, but forgot I have several sub menus open that extend the window considerably.
I will pay more attention to such things before requesting help again...
Thank you once more!
