Yeah that's a tricky one to answer by text. But basically it's always good to have that padding of sorts to define your shapes. That loop accentuates the shape of the speaker and you have the form to start connecting it to the vertices that end up in the main body of the console. It's a bit hard to picture it in your head, but as you progress on the lessons hopefully you'll see it and as you learn more modeling it will also become clearer.
