Modifier with strange behavior

Question Grease Pencil

I was looking for a way to smoothly rotate an arm and was considering the lattice modifier. The problem is that, for some reason, it moves the object without explanation.

That's not what the lattice is supposed to do.

This problem has also occurred with another modifier called hook. Does anyone know how to fix it?

I'm sure Paul will probably know, or maybe Wayne. But it's midnight in Australia, so we'll just have to wait a little while.

Oh, I am no GP expert, but my guess would be, that you Transformed (Moved, Scaled, maybe even Rotated) the Lattice in Edit Mode.

Always Transform your Lattice in Object Mode, unless you want it to affect your Mesh/GP object.

Here I leave a link to the file on Google Drive in case anyone can know what's going on and tell me what I should fix.

    HI @Xeinky ,

    It was as  I expected.

You should Add a new Lattice Object and Move and Scale it in Object Mode (and of course, you shouldn't Apply any Transforms either):

Can you send me the file to blender?

    Hi @Xeinky ,

There is nothing special or complicated. You manipulated the Lattice incorrect, so you'll have to Add another one and do it right this time.

I am certainly not send you a .blend file for this.

You can do it! I believe in you!

I already saw that I have to move the lattice in object mode, but in object mode, how do I modify the shape of the lattice so that it has a rectangular shape or another shape?

    Solution

S to Scale. S, Z to Scale in the Z-Axis, etc.
