not able to make things done

    That looks like a mess. There are most likely several mistakes you've made to get to this point.

    The best thing you can do, is to start over (yes, really!).

    Yes, the model looks okay there. But I have no idea, what you did to get from there to that mess.

    I agree with Martin. A lot of times our meshes are just too convoluted that trying to fix it is worst than starting over. You are going to sped too much time unraveling the mistakes. When you start over fresh, you gain speed and a better perspective of what you were doing wrong. And don't worry, that's how it goes at first when your starting to learn, we all have had to model something two, three, four or five times before we start getting the result we desire.

    I haven't done that part of the course yet (got distracted), but from the looks of it you just need to merge the vertex on the right hand corner to the top? Try disabling the modifiers so you have a clearer view. Also try merge by distance.
