I have tried switching auto normalize on/off. All bones have vertex groups and are set to deform. The weight paint is approx like in the video, but it is certainly not bending like that. Everytime I weightpaint the top or the bottom bone the autonormalize adds weight the opposite bone.

Do you have any idea why it is not bending like in the CGCookie video?
