Changes to weight painting in Blender 4.5

Unless I am missing something, It appears as if some of the weight painting options have been re-organized as a part of the 4.5 update. Most noticeably while viewing this tutorial compared to my version of Blender, my brushes are different. The whole menu is different to the version in this tutorial, but I assume that the same options are available elsewhere in the new layout. Is anybody able to give a quick debrief on where the important tools have been moved to so that I may more easily follow these tutorials?

You may want to check out the 4.3 brush asset workflow

Seeing your submissions earlier today, it looks like you haven't had much trouble with the changes.

Have you managed to figure out the differences from 4.2?

Hi, I too am having trouble with the brushes in weight paint mode. Choices are Average, Blur, Paint and Smear. Add is not an option. I am also not able to select the individual bones with my cursor even though the bone icon is active. When trying to select a bone it starts painting instead. Again when I don't have a bone listed and start to paint, it does not turn magenta but starts painting.

Paint brush set to draw brush type(Under advanced when you click on brush in the header) is the same as draw.  Change the blend mode(at the top of the brush settings) from Mix to Add. That will be the same as the add brush in older versions. If you change it to Subtract it is the same as the subtract brush. As for selecting the bones are you using shift+ctrl+left click? or Alt+left click. Older versions used ctrl+left click.

Hi hhawkline13 - I can see you have submitted your weight painting exercise and figured out the differences.

    Well done.

Hi Wayne, Thank you for personally reviewing my posts and guiding me through this dense and confusing subject. I very much appreciate it, as I'm sure everyone else taking this course does. Now on to the next challenging lessons.

BT, I was able to fix that errant vertex connected to the ear on the back of the monkey head. Yipee!
