Hey Everyone--
My name is Ngu Ngốc. I'm completely new to Blender. Prior to finding CG Cookie, the only model that I created was the rocket and planets from one of Grant Abbitt's beginner tutorials:

I had a lot of fun, and then I stumbled onto CG Cookie's Blender Basics series; I really enjoyed Jonathan's teaching style, so I decided to sign up to work my way through the CORE series.
Anyway, I just wrapped up the sci-fi crate exercise. I stuck pretty closely to the tutorial, but I did add some additional detailing at the end, including some cylindrical handles. My work is below:

I'm really looking forward to learning with you all and seeing all your work. :)
I've been continuing to fool around with making sci-fi crates and took a stab at an "imperial crate" inspired by Star Wars. I'm a complete newbie, so it took me a while to figure out how to add a circle to the face of each square. I also haven't quite figured out how use the mirror modifier approach to this model as was shown in the original tutorial (I ran into a bunch of issues with missing faces due to the introduction of curves when I tried to delete three sides), but I am making progress in getting there. Either way, had fun and learned a lot while producing this new take. I don't really know anything about texturing yet, so this is still just a boring default gray. :)

I unfortunately haven't had time to model much lately, because I recently started a new job, and my first couple weeks were insane, but I have resumed my studies of the CORE mesh modeling course. Here's my soccer ball:

This was a fun little project, and I learned quite a bit doing it. Looking forward to starting the hard surface modeling content soon. :)
Thank you for the feedback, Omar. :) I haven't yet dipped my toes into the lighting course, but I definitely see what you're saying. I had the power for my light source set to about 250 W when I rendered that. Here's a render with less intense lighting (100 W):

Thanks again, and hope you are having a wonderful day!
Hello everyone. I haven't posted in a while, but I have still been keeping busy with Blender when I am not working. Just checking in to share a few low poly scenes I have created while working through various tutorials.

Obviously a bit more colorful than my previous works, but I've also progressed quite a bit in terms of the types of objects that I can create. (With the exception of the bike, I could most likely create all of the pictured objects from memory/without needing a tutorial at this point.) It's all still very basic, but I have learned a ton over the past couple of weeks and am very excited to continue learning Blender. I'm particularly enjoying modeling nature/outdoors stuff, as well as the little houses. My goal over the next week is to create my own low poly nature/outdoors scene from my own imagination/using references. I'll post again once I have an original work that is presentable. :)
I hope you all are having a lovely start to the week.
