Surprise Challenge:Egg Cup

Contests and Challenges

I managed to complete this within an hour, including the render. Creating the model took about 14 minutes, and lighting took another 5 minutes. I spent the rest of the time working on textures.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to add the flowers and plants to the egg cup, as I

ended up spending too much time on UV mapping.

The full render took 60 minutes to complete.

I also made a video of it, but unfortunately, the file got corrupted. 😒

I really enjoyed the challenge — it was both fun and rewarding. I learned a lot from it, so thank you very much!

It's a great result. I specially love how the green part in the bowl feels, with those little highlights it has that real ceramic look.

Ceramics look on point! especially the green glazed rim, if you had to add the motiff how would you approach it?

Thank you. The way I was planning to do the motif is actually with simple texture painting and then combining it using a mix color node. But for that, the UV mapping has to be properly set up to be able to paint on it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it to work in time. I just tried it again now. and now it looks like this

Aah I see what you mean! thanks for sharing! You could modify the original motiff artwork to compensate for the UV stretch perhaps. Then again thats not something I have started on yet. The world of UVs is still an illusive one for me.
