So excited to learn and expand my Blender knowledge! Pretty stoked how the Crate came out!
Nice.
Did you forgot to smooth shade the buttons or is it on purpose?
After apply the boolean from the Text mesh, when I tried to set smooth (and smooth by angle), the mesh got really funky. So, I just left it shaded flat.
This was extremely satisfying and rewarding. I also learned some great modeling techniques from Ethan.Β
I will be making a beach scene snow globe this week (time permitting). βΊοΈ
Edit: I just noticed that I did not rotate the UV's on the bottom 4 roof shingles.Β
I really enjoyed this lesson. I canβt wait to finish the series. I will share some more renders with color variations I made.

Update on my variant of the snow globe, I decided to go with a Halloween spooky theme. I have been working on the main article (the haunted house) I have about 5 hours into this model. This has been a learning process of its own. Lots of fiddling with various settings in the bevel modifier and using the same modeling methods I learned from James.
Very nice shape! With such a balcony, the princess is in good guard :)
I started a small(ish) side project to work on in-between courses. I am currently modeling a lowrider style bicycle (correctly scaled). Using the techniques that I have learned over the past two months makes me feel really confident in modeling this. Updates will be added periodically. Here are a couple of viewport renders of what I have modeled so far. I may have spent more time looking at reference photos than modeling. I am pleased at how quickly I have put just this small amount of progress together. I am currently blocking out the main components and will work on the details as more pieces are built.
This is the bicycle frame and most of the front forks. οΏΌ
