Defining the animation with motion path

I got curious watching, can we set the animation directly as a motion path? So instead of the motion path being generated from the curves, we set the motion path after the keyframes and it generates the curves?

There is a similar behaviour in after effects where you set the motion path of an object, I wonder if Blender has it too?

The motion paths are created based on the keyframes not the curves. You can use a follow path constraint and use a curve object as the path to follow.

    Hi Hakan,

There are some add-ons that will let you manipulate the motion paths in the 3d view, however it is not really a great solution for character animation. This will become more obvious when you start working with a full character rig.

Something like that only really works with translation on simple objects. When you add the other transforms (rotation and scale) plus a complicated hierarchy of connected parts - it simply doesn't work and will slow you down.

    Hope that makes sense.
