Jonathan's Polybook

Hi,

as a new member and beginning student of Blender exercises I just wanted to share my result of a Sci-fi Crate with some modifications. I already started loving Blender and the wide range of possibilities creating a new world.

All the best from Germany and I'm looking forward to receive some feedback,

Florian.

Looking cool. Could be the crate that all the colourful bubble gum balls get delivered in. :D
It looks like there is something weird going on in that grey top corner there, like an extra edge or internal face or something else. Might be worth investigating.

    Looking great Florian!

The only thing I noticed, was what Sascha already pointed out.

  • Thanks for your feedback...

...and indeed I found some "tricky" things to got understand by me. Doubled vertices that are nearly lying on top of each other but with distance too big to got merged by distance are causing trouble when bevelling - that's the lesson I learned and so I had to rearrange those vertices by hand and then they got merged.

    HI Florian,

You can simple increase the Merge Distance in the Adjust Last Operation Panel, (or with F9):

(And there is also a Modifier that you can use: Add Modifier > Generate > Weld, but be aware, that it has a larger default Merge Distance of 1 mm.)

Awesome looking Sci-Fi create. Makes it feel like there's something yummy inside, like strawberry pancakes or doughnuts. I want one of those crates now.
