Hello everyone is there a setting that would cause my Y axis not to extrude? I'm trying to extrude the dpad along the Y axis. For whatever reason the z and x axis work for extrusion but its not registering my Y axis
Only think I can think of is that you may have extruded and not undo enough and there's faces bunched up there. Try selecting all and merge by distance and see if vertices get deleted. If not try opening a brand new file and extruding on all the axis there, just to rule it it's not a Blender bug. Also can you post screenshots of the problem area?
I figured it out, sorry for the late response just got home from work, but I had to release the S button for the y axis to register. For some reason the x and z axis I can hold all 3 buttons at the same time and it registers the axis correctly. Here are the results I was getting. Am I suppose to just press the keys instead of holding them like press E, then S, then Y or should I hold them to get the desired effects?
Hi Nick, in this case, you should press them after one another.
EDIT: it doesn't matter in this case, you can use E+S+Y, as well as E, S, Y.
This might not always be very clearly mentioned in tutorials, but the pause between mentioning the keypresses is an indication (sounds vague, but listen to it again and you'll hear it). Often the Screencast Keys also help, but in this particular case they didn't work as they should.
(When i write answers, I use a plus sign to indicate if Keys/Buttons are to be pressed together, for instance SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+S (to Shear in Edit Mode) and use comma's otherwise: for instance K, A, C (Angle constraint Knife Cut, through the Mesh).)
I am still not sure why Scaling in Y didn't work the first time.
