Using 4.3.2 to apply Normals

in this lesson they demo in green with version 4.1 ... I am usign 4.3.2... In Object Mode , Object ...there is no Shade Smooth By Angle.... only Shade Auto Smooth: add modifier to automatically set the sharpeness of mesh edges based on the angle between the neighbors  faces.  i go to Modifiers, add Normals. it gives me Normal Edit, Weighted Normal and Smooth by Angle. So, do I pick Smooth By Normals?  what will happen next?

If you click "shade auto-smooth" Blender will automatically add the smooth by angle modifier for you. You can then set the desired angle at which the smoothing kicks in there.
Auto-smoothing has undergone several revisions between 4.0 and 4.2, so it can get confusing, but that's how it is now.
If it's too confusing for now you can always download the Blender version used in the tutorial to follow along. You'll learn to spot the differences and how to solve them with more experience.

Don't worry, Blender lingo is like a foreign language, all those functionalities and operators never make sense when you read them, is only when you see them in action and you practice with them, see what they can do, see when you make a mistake and so on. Right now reading the explanation is confusing, but as you apply it on practice more and more it will start to make sense.
