I'm not sure. But that is an easy test to set up. Just render a scene, see how long it takes and how much memory it uses, then render it again but this time set up some light linking and shadow hacks and al that good stuff and see if something changes. My money is that it will actually take a bit longer to render if we do some light and shadow hacks, because probably it will have to go an extra step to achieve it instead of skipping a step.
