N-Gons

I have a doubt. When modeling the game-boy, we are creating lots of faces with more than five vertices and if I'm not mistaken this is something that should not be ignored, the question I want to ask is, do these faces have no problem being like this or will they be in the future resolved while I watch the video?

    Hi RRecuard ,

Those N-Gons are no problem at all in this model.

There is no deformation (as in animated characters, for instance) and no Subdivision Surface Modifier is being used (which sometimes can cause issues, when using N-Gons).

The "only use Quads" idea is mostly old-school modeling (it's not bad, but not always necessary).

Yes, the no triangles or N-gons is just a "best practices" mentality, it's not as if it is forbidden to use them. It's all because when using SubD the model behaves better using quads, but low poly models can have triangles or Ngons and it's all ok. Think about it like quads being the soldiers of an army, all macho well behaved guys, they walk into any battle and then you have mercenaries, spies and hired killers, not very trust worthy and you can't use them all the time, but they have their role and can get the job done from time to time.
