Feedback Request - Human Course

CG Cookie Sculpting

I'm working on an elf with the Human Course and would love to get some feedback on the anatomy, especially regarding the eyes and mouth. I have some issues with grey artifacts in thinner parts around the eyelids and where the lips intersect.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jonatan,

    Looks great to me.

Grey artifacts? Could it be, that you've been staring at this too long?

It probably has something to do with the Subsurface Scattering, but I don't really notice anything obnoxious.

What I did notice, is a bit of a 'wobble' in the lower eyelids, like here:

Yes, it's very subtle, But I have been having this issue and I might be over-focused on it. But I have indicated what I mean in white below. Yes the wibbly wobbly eyes, it definitely something to work on. I have also some concern if the rim between the eye and eyelashes is not to deep? See my indication in red.EYES_3 Grey.png

I don't notice any grey artifact either. But only he who works on the model knows his model like no one else and you notice all kinds of things that everyone else don't see. I think the only thing I notice is how he is too shiny, like he has been running from Orcs too long. After that it looks super good.

Thanks that is great input. I'll look into the specular reflection settings.

    Hey Jonatan,

If by "the rim between the eye and eyelashes", you mean the 'thickness' of the eyelid, then you are good; often people tend to make them too thin.

And yes, like Omar said, change the reflectivity a bit and also try out different Lighting/HDRI's.

Your portrait is developing beautifully JJonatanL! You've achieved the vast majority of realism in the head. Only the last 10% polish is left, which is a big accomplishment!

My first impression aligns with Omar that the skin is a bit shiny / sweaty. I bounce around a few ways to affect this:

    1. Bumping up the specular roughness value.
    2. Lowering the specular amount (IOR Level)
    3. Increasing the bump value

My only other note is the outside corner of the eye:

Yours is rounded where it's characteristically a sharper corner. Between the eyelashes converging and the distinction of upper eyelid overhanging the lower, sharp is what you want:

Even when the eye is opened wider the eyelashes keep a distinct sharpness on the outside:

Usually the upper and lower eyelids are distinctly overlapped compared to yours which show no distinction on the outside corner:

Woaw, thanks everyone for your helpful feedback. I had the feeling I was going in circles for a bit, but with this I can go forward again.
