Collections and multiple objects

posted to: Outlining the Shape

Hi! I've started Press Start course and it's only second lesson for me. Maby I'm rushing to far ahead but when to utilize collections? What I imagined for the buttons was to create separate object for every button and place 'em all into the same collection as the console itself. Could anybody elaborate on this topic?

    Hi CupOfTea ,

That's mostly up to you; it's a matter of organization.

You can have all your socks in one drawer and all your shirts in another and so, but you can also sort your clothes per color; all your blue clothes together and all your red clothes, but you can also have all your blue socks in one drawer and all your blue shirts in another and...

In a project like this it isn't very important (naming your Objects is a lot more important!), but in large projects organization becomes more crucial (but it's not destructive and you can 'easily' change things along the way, if you want).

I always use the caveat that Press Start is a tech demo more than anything, it's not super beginner friendly. Did you watch the Blender basics? And then The Fundamentals? You should start with those. The links we gave you are in sequential order.
