Question about shortkeys

So, I'm watching the video and around 8:15-ish they're hitting G and getting a crosshair type cursor and moving the cube without touching it. When I hit G I get the 3 arrows (red, blue, green). I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it seems like I'd want that sort of control not having to click on the colored arrows each time. Any advice?

    Hi Michael,

That's probably just a matter of disabling the Move Gizmo:

You can do the Move without touching the Object also, when the Move Gizmo is enabled, though.

F4 or edit menu->preferences->keymap->where it says Tool Keys to the right it should have immediate highlighted as blue. If it has active tool then when you press G, R, or S it actually selects the move, rotate, or scale tool. Immediate goes into move, rotate, or scale mode like you see in the video.

BIG EDIT: Just saw the question from May and decided to try a default-Load Factory Settings and it worked. Guess I must've added something that was affecting it!

Thank you both for your replies. I just checked.

The move gizmo is greyed out.

And, the Tool Keys is set to immediate.

But, it's still not working, so I'm unsure what I'm doing wrong.

Well, if you disabled the Move Gizmo (and the Tool Keys are set to Immediate, and/or the Active Tools Gizmo is also disabled)), and Blender still shows you the Move Gizmo, I don't know what's happening. (Do you maybe have any 3rd party Addons enabled?)
