Change the playback speed?

posted to: Rolling Ball
Is it possible to change the speed in which my animation plays? I'm not talking about moving my graphs or keyframes, I instead mean is it possible to slow the whole thing down to help me catch where my problems are? I am using the arrow keys to jump to the next frame, but of course me tapping the key at a consistent rate isn't easy to constantly do. I figure increasing the frame rate would just make things look more smooth - however I also recall Phil saying in the Core animation course that changing framerate during an animation project can cause nightmares - I haven't done so myself, but I can picture what could go wrong. But again, is it possible to slow the playback speed down, or is this not something animators do? (if so, let me know and I'll learn to train myself without it)

Yes there's 2 things you can do Harris.

First, it's possible to change the fps of the playback to slow it down or speed it up.

You can temporarily set it to whatever you want (faster or slower)
Don't change your keyframe timing, this will just give you a different look at your animation during playback.

And second you can watch this.
