Just an FYI, dragging and dropping the logo into Blender did not do anything (using a relatively fresh install of Blender 4.1) -- I had to enable the Import Images as Planes addon (Edit -> Preferences -> Add-ons -> search for Images as Planes) and then I was able to drag and drop to get the behavior shown in the lesson.
If anyone else also has issues, try the above steps!
HI Patrick,
Enabling the Images As Planes Addon really shouldn't be necessary. In the video, Jonathan doesn't use it (the PNG gets imported as an Image (Empty), not as a Plane).
The Addon is great to have enabled, though. However, in Blender 4.2+ it is part of Blender itself (no longer an Addon) and is called Mesh Plane (under Add > Image).
CORE is designed for 4.2+. Some things are different. If you want to continue with 4.1 then you may want to follow this: https://cgcookie.com/courses/blender-mesh-modeling-bootcamp
Or if you're totally new then go thru this first: https://cgcookie.com/courses/fundamentals-of-3d-mesh-modeling-in-blender
Just be aware that in 4.0 they changed a lot of hot keys. https://developer.blender.org/docs/release_notes/4.0/keymap/#Sculpt.2C_Paint.2C_Grease_Pencil
