Hi, Thanks alot for the course, I am new to blender, I was trying to lighting a usb flash using the 3 light methoud but my result not good:
Hi BBlendash ,
Drastically reduce the Strength of your Lights and also make sure, that your Plane doesn't have a material with a Value of 1.000 (0.8 is usually the maximum you should go).
You could also change the Exposure in the Color Management Settings, but I'd look at the Lights Strength first.
Thank you MMartin,
after I edit the light power and size, here is the result, I forget to mention that my usb size is relative to the orginal size(close to the model size) is the scale or size matter when its come to lighting and what to do to improve the lighting more?
Yes as Martin says, you're just blowing out the image with lights too powerful. What I like to do is turn all the strength to zero, in all the lights and world environment. Then when it's all pitch black I start to dial in the strength of the lights one by one, that way I know what each light is contributing to the scene. Also when you're lighting a product, like you have that USB model there, most of the time an HRDI background is enough for lighting. The 360 degree image will contribute all the light you need and the reflections will turn out great because of all the details in the image it's reflecting.
Awesome. Love the transparent/frozen glass material.
And yes, the scale matters a lot when it comes to lighting. If you model a chair the size of a house, when you place your lights to lit the chair, you will need a lot of power in the lights since the chair is the size of a house. But if you model the chair with its real world scale, your light's power will be equal to the real world power you would need.
Yes, this is looking great!
And to answer your earlier question, the Size of your Models can have a huge impact on the Size and Strength of the Lights you want to be using (and often even on the Materials). There are no rules, like the Size of an Area Light should be 2 times the largest Size of the Bounding Box of your Model, or so, just try it out. Omar's method is great!
Lighting isn't my forte, but all things aside, that's a really good looking flash drive! The red plastic looks so good!
