Anyone having issues with 4.2.3 version with EEVEE Next?

Question Modeling

so I'm curious if anyone here in the community is having some lag issues in the viewport shading mode. I was working on the Pokéball course and I know the author was using 4.1 version. my viewport is extremely slow as well as trying to change the tools in the properties tab. just curious to know if anyone might know if this is a bug issue, I don't remember eevee in my previous version I installed which was 4.1 to have any of those slow/lag issues in my viewport.

Yeah I've heard people complaining of how slow Eevee Next is. If you turn off raytracing you might get some movement back while you work. And I bet Eevee Next is new enough that all the kinks haven't been ironed out yet, plus it still has to mature, etc. So I think you're not alone, it's not a Ricardo thing, it's a Blender thing, it's a whole world thing. That is why we need to donate to Blender so they can hire more coding wizards.

Now, if you are in normal viewport and you don't have Eevee even on, there might be a problem. Try updating your operating system, updating video card drivers and re-download Blender. See if that helps.

yeah I'm currently seeing a lot more reports on google about new eevee being much slower in viewport and rendering. when I switch to cycles the viewport works fine but when I switch to eevee next EVERYTHING is slow even trying to move my mouse. same thing happens if my rendered mode is set to cycles and I switch to material preview is goes slow but switching back to rendered preview while on cycles its not causing that issues. my solid mode works just fine, so it definitely has to be some issues going on with the new eevee. I'm guessing going back to 4.1 version would be the best issue right now so I don't run into slow times on my viewport.

There is a setting in preferences that really helps speed it up. I can't remember where and I'm at work. Someone in here posted it and it fixed the problem for me. It's something like threads or processors to use for textures. By default it's 0 if I remember correctly. I know I changed it to 4 and it speed up material preview mode by a lot

Yeah, Dwayne's right. It can be set here:
