Cannot rotate curves in edit mode using 4.2

They seem to scale to an infinite line. I had to convert it to a mesh. Go into edit mode and rotate it than convert it back to a curve.  Works the same though I have way to many control points now. Am I missing something?

    Hi Louis,

       "Am I missing something?"

Almost certainly, yes. But I can't say what, without more information. Maybe you don't have everything Selected, when trying to Rotate the Curve in Edit Mode?

    Solution

Been using blender for 3 years so yes everything is selected there're only 4 Bezier control points to select. when rotating them on y or x they scale down to a line. which is strange behavior.  Martin see, attached image.  The image is live notice the rotation info in the top right corner. The curve circle collapses on the y Axis when rotating.  Strange behavior. I did some searching on this and this seems to be the case on many forum threads.

Edit: I figured it out! the Circle must be set from 2D to 3D in its curve properties....

Also I found a CG cookie bug if the .PNG image extension is uppercase it will not let you upload the file, extensions must be lowercase at least in the context of uploading at that image format.

A Curve (Circle) should be 3D by default, not sure why it would be 2D for you...But glad you figured it out yourself👍🏼

Sorry for the late reply, and it looks like you've already beaten me to the solution! I was going to say, you will need to make sure that the curve is set to a "3D Curve" in its properties. Otherwise most transformations on it will result in your exact experience. Thank you for updating your post with the solution LLaurents!

    Happy Blending! 🥳

Yeah not sure why it was set to 2D I rarely use curves in my modeling process. I really only use them for wiring and piping. I never retopo or bake anything. Everything I do is super high poly. Overall great course so far.
