Help aligning object to wall at odd angle

Question Modeling

Hello, I'm currently going through the CORE fundamentals of mesh modeling course (no prior experience), and I'm struggling with an item that seems like it should be really easy. I'm trying place some base boards against a wall, but the wall is at an odd angle from the world origin. So all I'm trying to do is place a modified cube flush against a plane.

I posted a message with an image in the discord here:

Any help appreciated!

    Solution

    HI Ryan,

That's simple (didn't check Discord yet), as long as you didn't Apply any Rotation (or, just as bad, Rotated in Edit Mode).

    First:

    Then:

    Wall-B.png

For the wall, you can also Select a Face in Edit Mode, where you want to Align the planks to, in step 1.

Here's another method I found make face snapping with rotation alignment work as well:

Yes, that works as well MMechanought , thank you!

Be aware though, that Snapping only aligns the Z- Axes of the plank and wall, so that might lead to unwanted resulting orientations (that is why the Rotation of the planks Origin you did, is so important).
