Hi,
I have finished a good chunk of the modeling core course and I feel like getting into character modeling. My main interest in 3D modeling is for creating characters and props for games but I'm pretty lost right now about what path to take here at CG Cookie.
For the last week I have been checking some courses (not from cgcookie) on low poly character modeling but all have same problem IMO. They just show what they do but do not explain why they do it. For example I was checking a course where the teacher was modeling a head and commented about straighten loop cuts and trying to have meshes with even densitiy (if possible) but didn't explained why. After some research it seems it is better for the texturing and animation stage. On the other hand some examples of why they produce bad texturing or animation would have been really useful.
For me, best thing about CGCookie is how responsive the community is and how talented teachers are. This combination is great because you know that things that you don't understand when taking the courses will be answered by others in the community and this is invaluable.
So, is it possible for you to let me know what course path should I follow to get this knoledge here at CGCookie? Take into account that I'm not aiming at AAA game characters creation just low-middle poly meshes that can be used in any platform (desktop, consoles and mobile).

Like Miyamoto Musashi said "If you know the way broadly you will see it in everything". Meaning you don't really need courses that specifically teach what you have in mind, when you learn what tutorials in general have to teach, you can repurpose the knowledge to make whatever you want, your own creations. The knowledge translates perfectly.
So I think these courses should get your experience points flowing so you can level up and beat the boss battle you'll be facing:
Firstly of course the CORE Fundamentals. And then:

Remember that some are older courses, and if you feel more comfortable following along, it's best if you download the Blender version the course was recorded with.
There's also the upcoming course from Lucas:
