Congrats to everyone who submitted to this year's Halloween challenge! We couldn't contain our excitement and had to celebrate by editing a showcase featuring all submissions. Enjoy and spook you next year π
Inspired by the new CG Cookie CORE | Fundamentals Series.
The CORE of your pumpkin is where you need to start to create your Jack-O'-Lantern for this challenge. Carve out the CORE and place to one side to make pumpkin pie later.

Alrighty! I have an idea. Let's see if I can make make it come to life. Fun stuff!
I have a lot of optimism and little skill, so wish me luck!Β
nathitappan deodatus wod NathanSmith comn I'm excited to see what you all come up with! The halloween challenge is always a blast π
Hi Adrian! This looks fun. I'll participate this year challenge. I just got started preparing my piece already in thumbnails only. I'll share them soon.Β
Hey carramone,
Yes you can submit a video, if you go back to your project you can edit it and scroll to the bottom where it says 'Add Media to Project', you can select 'Add Video' and paste in the video url.
You do need to upload to YouTube or Vimeo first.
Make sure your project is set to published on the top right and hit Update Project at the bottom of the page.
Just finished mine!

Very fun project where I got to use so much of what I've learnt in the CORE series.
I'm currently rendering an animation, but I've published my contribution with a still image in the meanwhile.
I have submitted my final render to the competition now. If I understand correctly, all I needed to do was to put the project as "final" in the category "Contest and challenges" to enter the competition. If there are more steps involved, please feel free to correct me.
Here is the link to my final render.
I'm still working on it, the scene is developing. I thought I'd share this to put a bit of pressure on myself. I think that helps me haha
Howdy!Β
Here's my submission: https://cgcookie.com/projects/murder-at-the-pumpkin-patch.Β
I fully intended on animating it, but I learned how little render-efficient my scene was after I was nearly done, so the 8 minutes per frame (before any fog) kinda put it off to next year. I might still render a "moving still frame" as Kent called it on one of the Sessions. We'll see. I'll update the project if it happens.Β
I guess I have to learn to be less "trigger happy" with the remesh button, or just learn how to do some fast retopo. I'm hoping the Human course will have great insight on sculpt optimization. That should be my next one, along with rigging. I've been having a lot of fun with this and now feel like creating and rigging characters to make silly little animations.
I ended up cutting the amount of pumpkins so I could render a short animation, here's the result. Not sure if I can add to the same challenge entry, but since it was my Fundamentals of Compositing exercise submission I ended up making a separate project for it. We have Omar to thank for the pumpkin's name π
Can i use materials pack, or do i have to create them myself aswell?
