The phone keyboard is automatically activated on Dashboard subpage

CG Cookie Site Updates

Hi guys!

Do you have the same problem as me with a keyboard on your phone? When I go to the Dashboard or anything else on that subpage, my keyboard automatically turns on. When I start typing and click enter, it redirects me to the search results. The same thing happens on a computer: Just go to the Dashboard and start typing and then click enter.

It appears that the search box is always active and ready to recive text.

It's frustrating 🙄.

Have a great day!

Hello. I just tried it, but it doesn't happen to me. Maybe some of the other guys can replicate it. In the mean time, when glitchy stuff happens to me, I always clear the cache or use a different browser and problems go away.

It doesn't happen to me either, phone or PC.

My guess, it is a setting somewhere, either phone, browser or elsewhere.

Yeah, I can't duplicate it. Do you have the Google keyboard with auto lookup feature

  • Harris Clook(Yeehawcowboyletsgo) replied

Actually yes that happens on my end too, except it's across the mobile website not just the dashboard. It is a slight pain but I've come to just accept it. Although it can be a nuisance when watching a tutorial and I need to get rid of the keyboard but I end up reloading the previous webpage ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Like Adrian said, it might be a phone thing or a chrome thing, which I'll have a looked at myself when I get a chance

    Thanks guys for your reply!

The problem still exists and with these things I tried to fix it:
    1. Clear the cache,
    2. Change Browser (Brave/Firefox/Edge)
    3. Change the phone keyboard (Swiftkey/Gboard)

    Nothing helps me 😢

Adrian, is this something then that has to be escalated to the top of the top of cookie levels? It's one of those super specific bugs that are hard to crack?

    I don't think so.
If no one can replicate it, it's most likely a local issue.
Stachowiak78 I can only suggest at this point you try a Google search for your specific device, if no luck then you can reach out to [email protected], but I don't think they will help any further than already tried.

I've had this issue for months. Both chrome and Firefox. But nothing to do with search. Just any page on the site pops my keyboard up twice. Meaning, pops up, I close it, pops up again. Always stops after the second time.

This has only been a mobile issue. I've never encountered a problem on desktop.

I'll do a screen recording and send it up the ranks, but I'm sure now that I've said this outloud, I won't be able to do it anymore 😂

Stachowiak78 are you by chance using G-Board for your keyboard on your phone?

Hi guys! It's me again :/

My problem still exists and I can't solve it. Can you please update your website and remove the autofocus from the search bar in the hidden menu? That could solve my problem :D

I spoke with Hayley and Raquel about this the other day, they are like the coding hacker gals, the Trinity's of CG Cookie Matrix and they are aware of the issue. There are other priority things on queue but they said they will get around to this issue. I'll link them up here and see if they can say anything.

Stachowiak78 unfortunately it is not that simple, first the exact cause needs to be established, then a solution found, which may involve writing new script, then it needs to be tested prior to updating the site or risk breaking the site completely.

It does seem to be a little confusing, you mentioned at the start of the thread it happens on mobile and pc. I don't understand how it can be both, unless there is something in common on both devices. I'm unsure if any of the dev team have been able to replicate it to find the cause.

    I meant...

On android, the phone's keyboard pops up, and on Windows 11 you can go to the Dashboard page and just start typing and then press enter. This will open the search results (Same thing, if you start typing on phone and click enter).

    Android (Keyboard pops up)

    1. Go to Dashboard

    2. Keyboard will appear

Windows 11 (Same thing, You can type and click enter to get the search resaults)

    1. Go to Dashboard

    2. Type something

    3. Click enter

    4. The search resaults page will open

Videos below (Virtual keyboard is only used to visualizing keyboard. Same thing happens with a standard keyboard)

There is something in common on both devices and it is the search box in the hidden menu 😝

    Cheers!

Oooh Interesting, the video may also be useful for the devs. I can see very annoying being a good choice of words on mobile, although on Windows it could be a cool feature we are not marketing. 😁
