Hi Wayne,
Forgive me for going a bit out of order with your class. I have a personal project which requires me to animate a robot arm - similar to the Crane Arm tutorial I'm watching right now. I'm trying to get enough information with that type of rigging setup so I can apply that knowledge to my own project. But eventually I will try to learn all the various tools and techniques of your course to rig any type of model.
Right now, I've reached a slight impasse as I've added the locked track constraint to the base spin bone. I'm on Chapter 5, Lesson 5: Adding Tracking Constraint. It seems to work okay, with the exception that the DEF-Arm_01 seems to rotate incorrectly in the Y axis - should that axis be locked in X and Z? (It's possible I have the axis directions wrong here.)
I submitted a Blender file on Sept 7.
Thanks,
-Scott
The DEF-Arm_01 isn't involved with the tracking constraint. the CTRL and Base_Spine are the bones used for that. It also needs to be changed -Y if you have the base_spine bone point away from the mesh like Wayne does. Sorry I don't have access to the submissions.
Thanks so much Wayne! I just watched it and it fixed my problem. Now I can continue the tutorial.
Also, thanks Dwayne for chiming in.
Cheers!
-Scott
