Going through core, and here's my work so far from the Modeling section:
Tried to make a latch that matched the hexagonal corners I've got, but ended up spending way way way too much time on it and settled for this. I went through probably 5 iterations before I gave up lol. Have to remind myself not to get bogged down in the details!
I have something like 19 different iterations on one of my projects. It's fun to play with things and sometimes you just get lost in it for hours. Wait until you sink into the compositor. Or lighting big scenes. I could spend days playing with those. Most importantly, have fun with it!
Looks awesome though! Great job!
The ball. Repeated this early course a few times just to makes sure I've got a strong grasp of the basic modeling tools. On to the next thing!
Played around with EEVEE for this render. Cycles brings my RX 5700 XT to its knees, even on fairly low sample sizes.
Yep everything's set as far as that goes.
The RX 5700 XT is AMD and has to use HIP and just isn't super great for rendering. Blender benchmark ranks it as about even with a GTX 3050 Laptop gpu...which is painful. Great raster card, but raytracing leaves so much to be desired.
Ended up getting lost down a strange rabbit-hole trying to get a correct looking metallic matte finish. I failed on that front, but I think I succeeded in stumbling into a really cool result!
Got wrecked by this one. I'd like to do a nice render and what-not, but really I need to move on and finish the rest of the course. I spent way too long on this one and started to get frustrated.
Yeah, I remember this one being more challenging, than it appears at first sight (that actually happens a lot in CG...and sometimes it's the other way around.), but the result looks good!
You could try using SHIFT+ALT+S (To Sphere) on the outer circle segment to get it less wobbly, if that what you're going for, but I actually like it as it is right now.
Finally submitted the CORE Mesh Modeling final exercise!
This was a tough one for me. Took me ages to complete and had some false starts and refactors, but kept at it.
