Mesh overlap

When I have meshes overlap I get this shading problem and when I see Jonathan do this part all he does is flip normals. So why is mine still like this and is this an issue?

    Hi Jerry,

    That is called Z-fighting and it happens when two (or more) Faces occupy the same place in 3D space.

    This is a problem and should be solved! Sometoimes it's a matter of Deleting a Face and sometimes you can simply Move a Face along its Normal....

    When and where exactly is this happening (please include a video timestamp)?

    At 5:12 & at 7:17 there appears to be face overlapping or perhaps I missed something.

    Solution

    When JL does it, I think he doesn't have the faces in the same space, he leaves them a little bit less close, just so to avoid the Z-fighting. You can see it in the video that he goes just a bit further:
