Hi there,
I have a random and slightly off topic question (not a course topic I guess), but I'm curious if you guys have any insight on what does it look like in the industry when charging for work in 3D.
I'm used to the Motion Design industry and am not sure it translates the same to 3D... Probably yes to a certain degree, but I'm used to calculating pricing for finished animations and videos, an upcharge if they want the working files as well. Bundling more deliverables for increased value and so on...
But what about the assets themselves? How do you even begin to price a model? By time it took you, by complexity, by being generic or fully custom? Single or a collection? So many variables.
Any insight is appreciated... I know it's kind of hard topic. I might ask at the discord channel too, so you might see a duplicate question.
Thanks!
I think the Blender Market guys could be the ones with the most helpful insights. They are used to having to deal with pricing for 10 years, if there's people that know how to price stuff in 3D, it's them. I bet they wouldn't mind if you shot them an email.
From what I have seen, I bet it'll be down to the time spent modeling, charge by the hours or something like that.
