Hi, I bought the "Blender Core Skills: The Ultimate Blender Basics Bundle" in a Humble Bundle, which can be found at this provided link from your site "https://cgcookie.com/downloads/blender-core-skills-the-ultimate-blender-basics-bundle" and I noticed it appears to be missing some of the course files for the "Fundamentals of Sculpting" course video "Lesson_07 Brush Textures". I am able to get the "Rough_Block_Wall_Disp_2k.jpg" (although on the site it is a PNG instead of the JPG the teacher is using)(I know this doesn't matter) however the "Terrain.PNG" file he uses after that one in the fundamental sculpting video for texture brushes is not to be found anywhere, not even on Polyhaven. I realllly like to use the same stuff the teacher is using to make sure things are working properly and im doing it all right, especially since the teacher is using version 2.8 and i'm on version 4.0.2 of Blender. Here is a screenshot of all the extracted files i got from your site for this particular course and there are no skin folders/files anywhere that I can find. (BTW please ignore the file shown named "Lesson_06_startTim.blend" as that is my own personal file). Please help thank you so much. I have been thoroughly enjoying the classes so far. Thanks for your time. Also, I've included a screenshot of the link I clicked to download the source files for this class. Those files that i'm told are supposed to be included in the course source files are NOT INCLUDED in the bundle download from your website as shown in my screenshot. I see no "Terrain.PNG", no "Rough_Block_Block_Wall_2k.jpg/png"(But at least was able to get that one.). Can't anyone just send me the actual file or a link to it that works please? sorry if I am being a pain in the bum bum, I do not mean to be that way. Thanks for your time and help.
Hey Tim,
The files you have look all present and correct.
Not all lessons have a Blender start file or, as with this lesson, any textures used in the course
You can download free textures from polyhaven.com, which I suspect is where Kent got the textures for the example in the lesson.
You can use any black and white (greyscale) image, such as the roughness texture from any texture maps you download from your preferred source.
I figured out how to find one of the files myself on polyhaven(just the "rough_block_wall_disp_2k.png" not the Terrain.PNG file though), however, why not just include them in the course source files? is it a Copyright sort of thing?
I have a feeling they don't offer that file on polyhaven anymore if they ever did at all. Mabe they offered it when it was called "TextureHaven" but "Polyhaven" doesn't seem to have it.
maybe someone could show me where they are on Polyhaven.com because i just scrolled through all 505 textures they offer and none of them are the one in the video That is labeled as "terrain.png". It doesn't even seem to be labeled differently, it's just not there at all. I think the site has changed alot and not all those files are available anymore.
here is a screenshot to give you a better idea of what i mean.
Hi Tim,
It's just an example as to how textures work. You can use any (greyscale) texture you like. There are also nice Brush Textures available here: https://pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/alpha/
But that specific Texture is not there either.
Just a final update for anyone else having this problem, I just downloaded my own terrain map (which was a free download) and was able to play with that to get a feel for it and follow along with the lesson. Just like "Martin Bergwerf" and "Adrian Bellworthy" correctly and helpfully stated. I hope im not coming off as annoying, I just have a passion for these classes, Art, and 3d modeling and like to try everything the teacher does to make sure i fully retain and understand the knowledge. I hope no one thinks i'm trying to claim that the course bundle doesn't come with everything you need. I just want to make sure that's clear. I really love this site and the classes, so if anyone is on the fence about the them, I would definitley recommend you give them a shot. Thanks for all your help everybody.
