This might be a stupid question but a buddy of mine surprised me and bought me this Bundle of Blender classes from CGCookie.com called "Blender Core Skills: The Ultimate Blender Basics Bundle" But I'm not sure where to start. could anyone tell me which class I should start with? They have the following: -mesh modeling, -digital sculpting, -Materials and Shading, -texturing, -lighting, -rigging, -animation, -modifiers. what order would you recommend I do these in? also the link to the bundle i got is here if you want to see more info on each class to help you answer my question. https://cgcookie.com/downloads/blender-core-skills-the-ultimate-blender-basics-bundle it seems to me that i should do them in the order i listed except im not sure when i should do the "modifiers" class. they listed it last but im not sure if they listed it in chronological order or not. I mean obvously i need to know how to model before giving it materials and shading/texturing, i assume lighting is just for showing off your creations or helping you to see how your model looks in different lighting and probably doesn't affect projects that involve making game assets unless your animating your assets from 3d into 2d like the original donkey kong games. obviously you need to learn to model before rigging and animating it. but I wonder why they list modifiers last. any input would be most appreciated.
You got the order right. The Modifiers course can be after digital sculpting. The course can be thought of a go to for when you need a refresher of what a specific modifier does or you want to learn what all of them do, for when you need to use one, which is going to be often, some of them anyways.
The order basically follows a studio workflow.
Mesh Modeling / Sculpting > Materials and shading / Texturing > Lighting > Rigging > Animation
Although rigging in a studio can generally be started earlier, whilst materials are being developed, for the purpose of learning the flow this is the best order.
Modifiers as Dwayne said is a newer course and added to the list, It covers most modifiers in Blender, some you won't of used (and may never use) during the bundle.
However, modifiers are a fundamental part of most of what you will do in Blender.
