I have tried to create a tree truck texture for the light shape hallway, but I think it needs some improvement. I like to know any ideas.
this is the render
and this is the shader nodes
Hi John OOStan ,
That is a great idea and I think it reads okay. You can leave it as is, if you want.
Now, if you do want to change something, it would be good to know what you are trying to do exactly; can you explain your Node tree?
Why do you use Normal Texture Coordinates?
Also, I wouldn't use the Color Output of the Color Ramp (that are actual colors) into a Value socket, because of the unpredictability: you have no idea what conversion is happening (Blender uses the Luminance (in Blender: 0.2126R + 0.7152G + 0.0722B) of the Color). I'd make another Color Ramp for the Specular and Roughness. Also, the Subsurface Color doesn't really do anything with low SSS values, so just leave that as white.
Well it looks like the issue is more to do with the lighting setup, it's super dark. Cheat a little and get more lights up top or down below and keep the caps of the trunk open.
In the color tab management you can play around with the look, exposure or gamma to brighten up the overall look.
Also you can increase the light bounces so light reaches in more, the render times will go up though.
